Projects…

Every now and again, we get a project we can really go to town on.

And that means a complete run through of everything I did to get from start to finish. As much as possible, I will include tips, best practices and even the odd image or two in order to fully illustrate what actually goes into completing a project from conception to completion.

And here’s where it all happens…

This is what I have posted to date:

  • Dawn’s Diner… Room Remodelling. This was a room remodelling job I completed back in England – Dawn’s Diner. I have added it here because it nicely illustrates some major considerations you should make whenever thinking about remodelling. When Dawn initially came to me, she told me she had a rather uninspiring room adjoining her kitchen. Consequently, It never really quite felt like an integral part of the house. No matter what ideas she came up with, the room never really lived up to her expectations. So it was time to consider…
  • Let’s Build A Bookcase…  Once upon a time, I was asked to do some work in a customer’s living room. The majority was simply decorating and the like. But I was also asked to include a couple of more specific projects, one of which was the construction of an in-built book case to the living room. This would have two main purposes. The first of which is obvious (to hold books). And the second, to bring corner suite away from the window wall thus preventing it trapping the curtains…
  • Stately Homes…  Many years ago now (probably in the late eighties)… I was given the undeniable privilege of being commissioned to re-paint the exterior of somebody’s home… “Just a couple of doorways and a few windows,” the voice cheerfully said over the phone to me. It turned out that voice belonged to a 60 times millionaire property magnate. James Hadfield – Hyde, or Lord Alderley as he was better known to his underlings…
  • A Whole House Refurbishment…  On initial purchase, this house was the product of two houses… Or rather, it was a house and a corner shop, roughly knocked into one. In the image below, Living room 2 and Bedroom 2 was what used to be the old corner shop area. The conversion was very basic, consisting of just a simple single doorway cutting through the two properties on each level…
  • 6 Days To A New Bathroom...  This was a job I did for a lady in Rochdale, Lancashire, England. She wanted a brand new bathroom suite fitting. With all the associated bells, flutes and whistles to boot. But… I only had 6 days to do it. The job came with two other major stipulations though. Firstly, this was the only bathroom in the house …

  • Rescue Me!! …  Once upon a time, over in the depths of sunny Beenleigh… There was a rental property that got severely trashed by its tenants. And three months later, after a lengthy eviction process. The property was finally empty and ready for some form of salvation. But as it stood. The property was a complete mess.
